Hometown Dental offers many choices to restore your teeth. Crowns and caps are used for longevity and restoring the function, stability, and aesthetics of a healthy mouth, smile, and bite. You may need a crown or cap because:
You may also need a crown after a root canal, when the tooth becomes weakened and needs additional support; or, you may simply want a crown placed for cosmetic reasons.
Whatever the reason may be, Hometown Dental offers a variety of crowns for our patients to choose from, including ceramic, porcelain, resin, or gold. Each type of crown has its benefits, so be sure to consult with your Hometown Dental dentist about which crown best suits your individual needs.
Hometown Dental can create and place your crown in two visits. During your first appointment, we will perform a dental exam to ensure your tooth can support a crown. If your tooth can support a crown, we will prepare it and take an impression. However, if your Hometown Dental dentist sees that the tooth is too damaged or broken, they may have to fill the missing parts first. That way the damaged tooth will be strong enough to properly receive a crown. Once your tooth has been prepared we will take an impression. That impression is then sent to our hand selected lab where the permanent crown will be milled according to your unique specifications. In the meantime, our team will provide you with a temporary crown to protect your tooth until your permanent one is ready. During your follow up appointment, we will easily and painlessly cement your permanent crown to the tooth using a special adhesive.
It will take some time to get used to your crown, but soon it will look, feel, and function just like a normal tooth. If you have any questions about dental crowns, or want to know if a crown is right for you, call 517-546-3330 today!
